Lobster Monster is a restaurant located on Yonge St, a bit north of Lawrence Ave. The place is rather large inside, and the decor is a bit like a cheesy seafood restaurant, but the menu items were definitely intriguing and the guy who greeted us was friendly enough. Make no mistake about it, this place offers up a refuge for lobster lovers to unite.
With items like lobster mac and cheese, lobster poutine, lobster nachos, lobster rolls, and well....you get the point. We started out with a cup of the lobster bisque ($7) and lobster spring rolls ($10) to start. The lobster bisque was wonderful. Nice thick soup with a decent amount of lobster meat in the bisque as well. The lobster spring rolls were subpar. I thought there wasn't any lobster meat or flavor discernible in the spring rolls.
We also ordered Lobster Grilled Cheese ($17) and the Hot Lobster Roll ($23). The lobster grilled cheese was great. It is a triple decker grilled cheese sandwich that was actually jam packed with lobster meat and mozzarella cheese. The only problem with the grilled cheese is how buttery it was and the extra slice in the middle, just made it so heavy. The hot lobster roll was served in a warm buttered croissant roll. Despite how it looks, there was a good amount of lobster meat in the roll. Both items served with fries.
The food was good, but the prices were a tad too high to warrant repeat visits. The decor of the place is a bit tacky, but that shouldn't deter you from the food. The service here is friendly and appears to be family owned by a couple who takes great pride in their work.
