Linda Modern Thai is a Thai restaurant located at the Shops at Don Mills. The interior of the restaurant looks incredible as they try to make it as stereotypically Thai looking as possible. They clean up pretty nicely inside and definitely looks like one of the higher end places you'll find here at the Shops. The owner is the same owner as Salad King, so you might see some overlap, but I honestly didn't. Menu has some of the same things but completely different feel.

I went with my coworkers and most of us ended up getting much of the same thing. The lunch specials hover around $12-18 and come with rice and your choice of protein. Half the table went for Crispy Beef Penang Curry ($15). We also had a guy order spring rolls for the table, which was nice. I would order something for the table, but I'm broke as a joke.

The crispy spring rolls were nice. They were veggie spring rolls and the skin was done well where it was crispy, hot, and not oily at all. The dipping sauce was a sweeter fish sauce. An order comes with 4 pieces that they cut up for you as well.

Crispy Beef Penang sounded incredible and I knew I had to suppress the duck fetish for a meal and try the beef out. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I thought it would be a solid cut of beef, but it was more like minced beef, which had an odd taste and texture to it. It's a shame because the crispy batter used was nice and the curry sauce was amazing. I loved the nice balance of sweet and spicy that the curry had. It was perfectly rich and creamy and could have been poured over anything and still had been good.

Our server was friendly and took all questions like a champ. Food was a bit slow surprisingly as there weren't many people there when we ordered. However, everyone did get their food at once. Prices are pretty standard for Thai fare and the place is super nice inside and out (we were on the patio). Would come back to try other dishes like their Islamic Noodles (Pad Thai with Penang Curry poured over it) or Crispy Duck.
