Momofuku Noodle Bar is one of the many layers to the Momofuku restaurant family. It also is the ground floor of the establishment and really seems to be one of the more popular of David Chang's brainchild (and really shows his love for ramen). The place itself is very hip and doesn't give off any pretentious vibes despite the surrounding areas.

We came for Winterlicious, so the set menu was definitely a great value in contrast to their standard menu. Ordered the smoked chicken ramen (gf got the mushroom dian dian mian), pork belly bao, and their soft serve. The pork belly bao was good. I thought the steamed bao was nicely done, but the pork belly was more fat than meat. The seasoning was very light on the pork belly so it tasted more naturally "porky", but I was hoping for something with more bite.

The ramen was done very nicely al dente. The smoked chicken was great, while the other parts of the ramen were a nice complement. There is a lot happening in the ramen bowl, but I thought they blended in nicely together. The broth is always key when it comes to ramen, and I thought it was a bit off. It's not overly salty, which was great, and I was hoping the noodles would soak up the broth more.

I found the soft serve to have excellent texture, with a unique taste which I couldn't put my finger on. It was slightly tart and not very sweet, but I loved that oddly enough.

David Chang loves his ramen and it shows. The menu items are pretty cool and there is lots to love. The service is lightning fast and the food feels a bit rushed. The experience as a whole is just like any other ramen place though so there really is nothing worth writing home about. Overall good, but not great.
