This review is in regards to the newer location of Jatujak near Vic Park and Eglinton. Jatujak is this nice little Thai restaurant located in a crappy looking plaza in Scarborough (granted...Scarborough is full of crappy looking plazas...). the place itself looks like a downtown transplant as it has an old hip bar feel with the Thai decor like the flag and artwork on the walls.

We started out with chicken satay skewers for an app. The skewers aren't the largest and seemed kind of pricey for $5.99 (for just 2!?). But the skewers were so good. Nice Thai spices but it was the tender piece of chicken meat that was good! It also came atop a bed of salad, which was actually kind of nice. Good sweet dressing and light.

I ordered the Beef Khao Soi, because I haven't had a good one north of Bloor St. in the GTA. The Khao Soi here was very good. Khao Soi is a coconut curry stew (similar to laksa) that consists of egg noodles, crunch, and a protein. I'll start with the beef because they were actually nice tender pieces of beef. I was kind of surprised they didn't use some crappy overcooked beef cubes. Nice tender pieces here with lots of egg noodle and fried noodle strings. The curry was done well. Not overly spicy or heavy at all either.

My friend ordered the Pad Gra Pow (with chicken - also not the same as others like Pai) and added some eggplant. Server was friendly enough to toss some in there for him. He only let me try a piece, but no complaints here. Can't comment too much more on it as I was busy stuffing my face with my own Beef Khao Soi.

The place overall was pretty great. The food was pretty solid and the surrounding looked like it was ripped right out of the downtown core (minus the shady Scarborough environment surrounding it). Service is very friendly and prompt. Prices are very good for dishes that are more expensive downtown. Portion size is good and could possibly be shared by 2 lighter eating people. Plenty of parking in the front. Definitely make your way over.
