The Frita is a Miami staple and definitely one of the unique items you should include on a trip to Miami. El Rey de Las Fritas was my first taste of a Frita way back when, but I recently came back to have it again and it was better than I remembered. Let me start by saying that this place is tiny and has two long counters that are designed for those who want to eat in, however, I would say this is primarily a takeout place.

The menu consists mainly of fritas and sandwiches. They do have some entrees, but you come for the frita. They have a variety of toppings and such, but I stuck with the original ($3.25).

A frita is like a Cuban hamburger as it is mashed ground beef, but shaped very loosely into a patty. It's served on a cuban roll and topped with lots of potato sticks. The frita here is perfectly crisp on the outside of the patty. The patty itself is juicy and tastes real good. The potato sticks add more crunch to the sandwich and the cuban roll is ideal for this.

You can have it topped with things like cheese, bacon, fried egg, etc, but try the original first. The servers here are friendly but speak Spanish almost exclusively so be prepared. The place can also get quite busy but I find turnaround is rather quick.
