Best Crab Cake I've ever had.
I'm sure I'm not the only person to have ever said that Faidley Seafood. This place, located in Lexington Market, is well known for their crab cakes as they are renowned for having the best. In a city that prides itself on their crabs, Faidley Seafood is the shining beacon that represents it very well. They have won the award for best crab cake so many straight years, that they might as well retire the category.
Gee, I wonder what I should order?...
I ordered the crab cake and prayed that they would give me the fattest one they had. Were my prayers answered? The lady looked at me and within a few minutes, there plopped a large crab cake on my plate (with fries because they are my weakness). The crab cake was so big and it's so nice to actually have one that's made with mostly lump crab and not filler. I'm so used to fillers in my crab cake that having something like this almost made me cry.
The chunks of crab meat were so obvious and despite the rather high price tag, I somehow still felt like it was cheap. That's the mark of a good meal. The batter was not crisp, but didn't need to be. The crab meat was tasty but they did go a bit overboard with the old bay and mustard was very pronounced. The fries were awful unfortunately, but who cares. That crab cake, despite being ONE crab cake, was SO filling! I was hoping to get some other items at Lexington Market, but couldn't deal with just how full I actually was.
The lineups are typically long, but we got there rather early on a cold Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't bad at all. The menu is small but what else could you possibly be getting. The service is fast as they have an assembly line back there and the prices are reasonable enough for the best. Will definitely be back as my girl loves ALL things Crab.
