Stack is a BBQ restaurant in Uptown Toronto, North York around Yonge St. and Lawrence. The restaurant looks more like a sports bar and the interior is rather cool. They have dining rooms broken up in two with a large stairwell in the middle. There is also a giant smoker in the back that adds to the decor. The menu offers up lots of BBQ options like brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs. The more impressive options were the wide variety of sandwiches and burgers they had as well. Lots of different concoctions that all seemed good, despite the higher price tag and the fact that none came with sides.

We started out with some good ole southern comfort Mac and Cheese ($8). The dish is an appetizer size so it's good to share as a couple. You can also add double smoked bacon for an additional $2 (I wish we did). Regardless, the mac was good and cheesy. I wish they had some breadcrumbs or a thin layer of something on top, but that's fine.

Also got a side of Sweet Potato Fries ($7). Pretty hefty price for some sweet potato fries. They come in waffle fry form. Honestly, they weren't very good. There were so many that were just fried to a crisp. That can be good for normal fries, but for waffle fries, the thickness works against it. It hurts the teeth trying to break through some of those pieces.

The Chicken and Ribs Combo ($26) is something that is intended for one hungry individual, but we tackled it as a team. The chicken was dry. No way to get around it. It was a large quarter chicken but because it was the breast meat, it was overly dry and bland. The skin had some sauce brushed on it, but that's it. The ribs were OK. Not much sauce but also a bit dry as well. It also comes with fries, baked beans, and slaw. The portion sizes were large, as is the price.

The food itself was pretty disappointing. The service was fine as she would check in on us from time to time. Prices are a bit high and its more of a chain restaurant feel. It felt like a Jack Astor's that was trying to do BBQ. There weren't even BBQ Sauces at the table for you to use? Decent place to go if you're just looking for a place to drink and have some food. But no need to come out of the way if you want BBQ.
